Jill Margerison
Associate Dean of E-Learning, The Southport School, Australia
To Own the Learning, we Must Learn to Un-learn and Enjoy to Re-learn
Jill holds a PhD in Political Science and International Relations and has worked in Tokyo as an editor, writer and teacher. She writes on her teacher blog, maintains a teaching YouTube channel, and publishes articles on growth mindset, collaborative communities, teenage literacy engagement and constructivist teaching practice. In 2014, she was selected to lead an International Boys School Coalition Action Research project on Maker Culture; an approach inspired by educationalist Seymour Papert. In 2015, Jill was further awarded a fellowship through The Asia Education Foundation to implement an e-twinning project with a Malaysian school in Pahang. In 2016, Jill was asked by the Department of Education to represent Australia as an educational leader on the South-East Asian Education Summit held at Nanyang University in Singapore. Jill is a trained IB examiner and more recently been selected as a trial external examiner in the Queensland Syllabus.

Ann Michaelsen

The Global Classroom: Engaging the Students, Exploring the Possibilities
Ann S. Michaelsen is a teacher /administrator at Sandvika High School in Norway. She is the author of the blog “Connected teaching and learning” where she shares lesson plans and articles about learning with technology. She was a member of the 2013 Horizon Norway Advisory Board, 2014 Scandinavian Horizon board, and the 2014 Horizon Report Europe Advisory Board. In 2012 she wrote the book “Connected Learners: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Global Classroom” with 27 high school students. She spoke at Bett in London 2014 and was recognized by BBC News technology and BBC Click. The result was an article on BBC News and a team of reporters from BBC Click and BBC school report visited her school, this was aired on BBC World. She was portrayed in the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera in 2014, and project leader for the Norwegian connected educators month. She has written a book for teachers in Norway published by Cappelen Damm in 2015.

Brian Holmes
Director, The European Commission, Belgium
Dr. Brian Holmes is the Director of the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA) in Brussels. The Agency is responsible for managing certain strands of the European Commission's programmes for Erasmus+, Creative Europe, Europe for Citizens and EU Aid Volunteers.
Brian has been working on education and training for many years at the European Commission. He has been involved with European policy for innovation and lifelong learning, supported by ICT, and was responsible for co-ordinating the EU's eLearning Programme.
Brian has an MBA from a Paris business school and has been a tutor with the UK’s Open University Business School, for the MBA module on Managing Knowledge. He holds a PhD on technology enhanced learning with the University of Lancaster in the UK.
